{"id":5731,"date":"2025-02-13T12:18:20","date_gmt":"2025-02-13T11:18:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/phy.uniri.hr\/?page_id=5731"},"modified":"2026-03-15T19:48:17","modified_gmt":"2026-03-15T18:48:17","slug":"bachelors-and-masters-theses","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/phy.uniri.hr\/en\/education\/bachelors-and-masters-theses\/","title":{"rendered":"Bachelor&#8217;s and Master&#8217;s Theses"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/phy.uniri.hr\/files\/nastava\/zavrsni_i_diplomski_radovi\/Pravilnik_o_diplomskom_i_zavrsnom_radu_FIZRI_procisceni_tekst_2023.pdf\">Rulebook on Master\u2019s Theses in Graduate Study Programmes and Bachelor&#8217;s Theses in Undergraduate Study Programmes of the Faculty of Physics, University of Rijeka<\/a>, students select a thesis topic:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>for a Master\u2019s thesis, <strong>no later than 1 February<\/strong> of the current academic year (Art. 5 of the Rulebook)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>for a Bachelor&#8217;s thesis, <strong>no later than 30 days after the beginning of the 6th semester<\/strong> (Art. 14 of the Rulebook)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/phy.uniri.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Prijedlozi-tema-Zavrsnih-i-Diplomskih-radova-2025_2026_za-web.pdf\">Proposed Topics and Supervisors for the Academic Year 2025\/2026<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Note:<\/strong> In addition to the proposed topics and supervisors, students may contact teachers not listed in the table to inquire about the possibility of selecting a topic of their own choice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After defining the topic with the student, the supervisor submits to the Faculty Administration the <a href=\"https:\/\/phy.uniri.hr\/files\/nastava\/zavrsni_i_diplomski_radovi\/2023_2024\/Zahtjev_za_prihvacanjem_mentorstva_i_teme_diplomskog_zavrsnog_rada_2024.doc\">Request for Approval of the Supervisor and Thesis Topic for Master\u2019s\/ Bachelor&#8217;s Theses<\/a>\u00a0in accordance with the <a href=\"https:\/\/phy.uniri.hr\/files\/nastava\/zavrsni_i_diplomski_radovi\/Odluka_o_postupku_odobravanja_mentora_i_teme_te_o_utvrdivanju_elemenata_postupka_obrane.pdf\">Decision on the Procedure for Approving Supervisors and Thesis Topics and on Determining the Elements of the Defence Procedure for Master\u2019s and Bachelor&#8217;s Theses at the Faculty of Physics, University of Rijeka<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who plan to complete their Bachelor&#8217;s or Master\u2019s thesis, or part of it, outside the premises of the Faculty of Physics must submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/phy.uniri.hr\/files\/nastava\/zavrsni_i_diplomski_radovi\/Izjava_troskovi_izrade_rada.doc\">Statement<\/a> Statement to the Dean\u2019s Office before beginning their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who wish to write their Bachelor&#8217;s or Master\u2019s thesis in English must submit a written request with justification and written approval from their supervisor (Art. 9 and Art. 18 of the Rulebook).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Initiating the Thesis Defence Procedure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When initiating the procedure for the defence of a Bachelor&#8217;s or master\u2019s thesis (Art. 10 and Art. 19 of the Rulebook), the student submits the following to the Dean\u2019s Office:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Completed <a href=\"https:\/\/phy.uniri.hr\/files\/nastava\/zavrsni_i_diplomski_radovi\/PRIJAVA%20OBRANE%20ZAVRSNOG%20RADA%20FZF.doc\">Application Form for Bachelor&#8217;s Thesis Defence<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/phy.uniri.hr\/files\/nastava\/zavrsni_i_diplomski_radovi\/PRIJAVA%20OBRANE%20DIPLOMSKOG%20RADA%20FZF.doc\">Application Form for Master\u2019s Thesis Defence<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Turnitin originality report with a positive assessment confirming that the originality requirements have been met<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certificate from the University Library of the University of Rijeka confirming no outstanding obligations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proof of payment of required fees (<a href=\"https:\/\/phy.uniri.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Podaci-o-uplati-NOVO.pdf\">payment details provided separately<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student ID card<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Four bound copies of the final or master\u2019s thesis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confirmation from the Student Office that all obligations towards the Faculty have been fulfilled (issued when submitting the above documentation).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: Before the defence, students must <strong>upload<\/strong> their Bachelor&#8217;s or Master\u2019s thesis to the <strong>Faculty Repository<\/strong> and <strong>register the exam in Studomat<\/strong>. (If no exam dates for the Bachelor&#8217;s or Master\u2019s Thesis are available in Studomat, students must contact the ISVU coordinator.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Uploading the Bachelor&#8217;s or Master\u2019s Thesis to the Faculty Repository:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/phy.uniri.hr\/files\/nastava\/zavrsni_i_diplomski_radovi\/UPUTA_ZA_SAMOARHIVIRANJE_RADOVA_U_REPOZITORIJU_SASTAVNICE.pdf\">Instructions for self-archiving in the institutional repository<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/phy.uniri.hr\/files\/nastava\/zavrsni_i_diplomski_radovi\/Odluka_o_obvezi_pohrane.pdf\">Decision on mandatory thesis submission<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If needed, students may request assistance from the library or contact the repository editor  at:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:podruznica.kampus@svkri.hr\">podruznica.kampus@svkri.hr<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/studentska.uniri.hr\/upute-za-zavrsetak-studija.html\"><strong><strong><u>Instructions for Completing the Study Programme<\/u><\/strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After defending the final or master\u2019s thesis, students must complete the following documents and submit them to the Student Office (11:00\u201314:00) or send them by email to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:studentskasluzba@uniri.hr\">studentskasluzba@uniri.hr<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/studentska.uniri.hr\/dokumenti\/obrazac_za_prikupljanje_podataka_diplomanata_2024.pdf\">AZVO form<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/studentska.uniri.hr\/dokumenti\/Pristupnica_za_ALUMNI.pdf\">ALUMNI membership form<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/phy.uniri.hr\/files\/nastava\/zavrsni_i_diplomski_radovi\/2024_2025\/Zavrsetak_studija_2025.pdf\">Study completion form<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Library confirmation of no outstanding obligations (may be requested by phone or email)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/limesurvey.srce.hr\/122159?lang=hr\">Online Student Satisfaction Survey<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Activities for the Diploma Supplement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To have extracurricular activities included in the Diploma Supplement, students must submit certified documentation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/studentska.uniri.hr\/dokumenti\/Dodatne_aktivnosti_za_dopunsku_ispravu.pdf\">Confirmation of extracurricular activities at the Faculty<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confirmation of participation in volunteer or outreach activities, conferences, summer\/winter schools, etc. (signed by the organiser or supervisor)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>References for published professional or scientific papers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Important: On the date of study completion, the student\u2019s AAI identity is automatically deactivated. All documents linked to the student\u2019s AAI email must be downloaded before that date, as reactivation is not possible.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All information and documents are also available on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studentska.uniri.hr\/upute-za-zavrsetak-studija.html\">Student Office<\/a> website.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students of the Faculty of Physics at the University of Rijeka are expected to adhere to the general norms of ethics and professionalism in the domain of student rights and responsibilities, as outlined in the <a href=\"https:\/\/phy.uniri.hr\/files\/pravilnici\/godina_2020\/Eticki%20kodeks%20za%20studente.pdf\">Code of Ethics for Students of the University of Rijeka<\/a>. Violations of student obligations, failure to fulfil academic responsibilities, and other matters related to disciplinary accountability are regulated by the <a href=\"https:\/\/phy.uniri.hr\/files\/pravilnici\/Pravilnik_o_stegovnoj_odgovornosti_studenata_Sveucilista_u_Rijeci_listopad_2014.pdf\">Rulebook on the Disciplinary Responsibility of Students of the University of Rijeka<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any use of another person\u2019s text or any other form of copyrighted work, as well as the use of ChatGPT or any other tool based on artificial intelligence technology, without clear and unambiguous citation of the source, is considered a violation of copyright and the principles of academic integrity.
