2nd HAD Scientific Meeting of the Croatian Astronomical Society in this millenia

Dear friends, astronomers and astrophysicists,

we are glad to invite you on behalf of the Scientific section of the Croatian Astronomical Society to participate in the 2nd HAD Scientific Meeting of the Croatian Astronomical Society in this millenia that will take place on 25th and 26th November 2024 in Rijeka, at the University campus Trsat. Scientific meeting is a continuation of a previous one-day meeting held in Zagreb, at the Ruder Boskovic Institute, three years ago. This meeting aims to bring together all professional astronomers and astrophysicists or scientists actively involved in space research, primarily in Croatia, as well as our colleagues from abroad. The meeting will take place on-site, with a possibility of online participation.


Accommodation

The organizer can provide limited accommodation in the private apartments at the University campus Trsat, subject to availability, mainly for PhD students and postdocs. Apartment for accommodation of one person costs 30.5 euros, while for two persons 39.8 euros. The price does not include VAT and touristic tax. Apartments are situated 300 m (4 minutes walk) from the meeting venue. All apartments have private bathrooms. 

There is also possibility for accommodation at the nearby hostel Dharma, subject to availability. Dharma hostel is situated in the beautiful surroundings at Pecine district, nearby sea and beaches, 10 minutes drive from the meeting venue, at 30 minutes walking distance (2.2 km). Accommodation is possible in single, double and triple rooms, but be aware that only two single rooms are available. All rooms have private bathroom. The prices are per night per room, and include all the taxes:
- single room 40 EUR
- double room 56 EUR
- triple room 75 EUR
Breakfast costs 5 EUR extra. Parking place is also provided. Please note that we do not manage bookings and reservations for the hostel, but will forward your request to the accommodation. Final bookings, confirmations and payments should be done directly with the staff of the hostel Dharma.


Registration

Registration fee: 50 EUR
Registration fee will cover coffee breaks, lunch and organizational expenses. Registration fee should be paid to the bank account of HAD (Croatian Astronomical Society) before the registration deadline:

Oral contributions (talks)

Participants can contribute to the meeting through a contributed oral talk with a duration of 20 minutes (15 mins for presentation + 5 mins for Q&A). Abstract of the talk should be submitted through the registration form before 1st November 2024.

Programme

Programme of the meeting will become available after the extended contribution deadline. Start of the meeting is planned at 12:00 on Monday, 25th November with the lunch so that participants can have enough time for travel to Rijeka. The first talk is planned for 13:00. End of the meeting is planned before 17:00 on Tuesday, 26th November.

The organizer will provide coffee breaks in the morning and afternoon, as well as the lunch.
