According to the Rulebook on Master’s Theses in Graduate Study Programmes and Bachelor’s Theses in Undergraduate Study Programmes of the Faculty of Physics, University of Rijeka, students select a thesis topic:
- for a Master’s thesis, no later than 1 February of the current academic year (Art. 5 of the Rulebook)
- for a Bachelor’s thesis, no later than 30 days after the beginning of the 6th semester (Art. 14 of the Rulebook)
- Proposed Topics and Supervisors for the Academic Year 2025/2026
- Note: In addition to the proposed topics and supervisors, students may contact teachers not listed in the table to inquire about the possibility of selecting a topic of their own choice.
After defining the topic with the student, the supervisor submits to the Faculty Administration the Request for Approval of the Supervisor and Thesis Topic for Master’s/ Bachelor’s Theses in accordance with the Decision on the Procedure for Approving Supervisors and Thesis Topics and on Determining the Elements of the Defence Procedure for Master’s and Bachelor’s Theses at the Faculty of Physics, University of Rijeka.
Students who plan to complete their Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis, or part of it, outside the premises of the Faculty of Physics must submit a Statement Statement to the Dean’s Office before beginning their work.
Students who wish to write their Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis in English must submit a written request with justification and written approval from their supervisor (Art. 9 and Art. 18 of the Rulebook).
Initiating the Thesis Defence Procedure
When initiating the procedure for the defence of a Bachelor’s or master’s thesis (Art. 10 and Art. 19 of the Rulebook), the student submits the following to the Dean’s Office:
- Completed Application Form for Bachelor’s Thesis Defence or Application Form for Master’s Thesis Defence
- Turnitin originality report with a positive assessment confirming that the originality requirements have been met
- Certificate from the University Library of the University of Rijeka confirming no outstanding obligations
- Proof of payment of required fees (payment details provided separately)
- Student ID card
- Four bound copies of the final or master’s thesis
- Confirmation from the Student Office that all obligations towards the Faculty have been fulfilled (issued when submitting the above documentation).
Note: Before the defence, students must upload their Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis to the Faculty Repository and register the exam in Studomat. (If no exam dates for the Bachelor’s or Master’s Thesis are available in Studomat, students must contact the ISVU coordinator.)

Instructions for Completing the Study Programme
After defending the final or master’s thesis, students must complete the following documents and submit them to the Student Office (11:00–14:00) or send them by email to studentskasluzba@uniri.hr:
- AZVO form
- ALUMNI membership form
- Study completion form
- Library confirmation of no outstanding obligations (may be requested by phone or email)
- Online Student Satisfaction Survey
Activities for the Diploma Supplement
To have extracurricular activities included in the Diploma Supplement, students must submit certified documentation:
- Confirmation of extracurricular activities at the Faculty
- Confirmation of participation in volunteer or outreach activities, conferences, summer/winter schools, etc. (signed by the organiser or supervisor)
- References for published professional or scientific papers
Important: On the date of study completion, the student’s AAI identity is automatically deactivated. All documents linked to the student’s AAI email must be downloaded before that date, as reactivation is not possible.

Students of the Faculty of Physics at the University of Rijeka are expected to adhere to the general norms of ethics and professionalism in the domain of student rights and responsibilities, as outlined in the Code of Ethics for Students of the University of Rijeka. Violations of student obligations, failure to fulfil academic responsibilities, and other matters related to disciplinary accountability are regulated by the Rulebook on the Disciplinary Responsibility of Students of the University of Rijeka.
Any use of another person’s text or any other form of copyrighted work, as well as the use of ChatGPT or any other tool based on artificial intelligence technology, without clear and unambiguous citation of the source, is considered a violation of copyright and the principles of academic integrity. Such behaviour constitutes a serious breach of student obligations and entails disciplinary responsibility and measures in accordance with the Rulebook on the Disciplinary Responsibility of Students.
